We do not sell personal information for money. If our practices later involve a legally defined sale, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling, we will update this Policy and provide required opt-out methods.

4. Payments and Sensitive Records

Payment card information is generally collected and processed by our payment provider rather than stored directly by Mechanical Matt. Mechanic tax, identity, insurance, and payout records may contain sensitive information. We limit access to personnel and providers that reasonably need it and use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing services, maintaining repair and warranty records, administering contractor relationships, satisfying tax and accounting requirements, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, and resolving disputes.

Retention periods vary by record type. Our current retention standards are: service records are generally kept at least three years as required for Colorado motor-vehicle repair invoices and often longer for tax, warranty, and dispute purposes; tax and payout records, including W-9s, are generally kept at least four years after the last related tax year; contractor insurance certificates are generally kept for the period of work plus several years afterward; unsuccessful mechanic applications are generally kept about one year; and call recordings are generally kept only as long as needed for quality, support, or an open dispute. We may retain limited records after a deletion request when required or permitted by law.

Depending on where you live and whether applicable legal thresholds are met, you may have rights to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct inaccuracies, delete it, obtain a portable copy, or opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising, or profiling.
