Rate and follow-up supplement · Version 2026-09-07-rates-v2

This supplement applies when you submit service rates or accept a counteroffer in your Mechanical Matt account. For future bookings, it replaces conflicting rate, platform-fee, exclusivity, and follow-up provisions in the Independent Contractor Platform Agreement and operating rules. It does not change compensation or obligations for work already accepted.

Your service rates

Application approval opens account setup. You then propose your service rates. Mechanical Matt may approve your proposal or offer different rates. A counteroffer takes effect only when you accept it. You may decline it or withdraw a pending proposal and submit new rates. Previously agreed rates remain in effect until a replacement is agreed. Adding a service requires an agreed rate for that service before matching can be enabled.

Rates are in US dollars. Choose Hourly, Flat rate, or Quote each job for each selected service category. The requested labor rate is per hour; for flat-rate work it is a reference for agreeing the specific job total. Quote each job does not require a saved hourly rate. Each offer must establish compensation before you accept it.

Diagnostic work has a one-hour minimum based on the applicable service category: diesel diagnostics use the diesel rate, gas diagnostics use the gas rate, and heavy-equipment diagnostics use the heavy-equipment rate. Additional diagnostic time uses the same category’s hourly rate and requires the applicable authorization. For a quote-each-job category, agree its diagnostic hourly rate in the offer before work starts. This rule does not establish a general labor minimum for other work.

The optional mobile service-call fee covers traveling to and arriving at a mobile job only. It excludes labor, parts, taxes, mileage and emergency charges. Blank or $0 means no separate fee is requested. A saved rate or fee does not authorize work or a customer charge.

Each booking has its own terms

Each offer states the authorized scope and proposed mechanic compensation. Review those terms before accepting. You are free to decline. Rate changes apply to future offers and do not change accepted work. Additional work, parts, or charges require the applicable customer authorization.

Customer platform fee

Any Mechanical Matt platform fee is charged to the customer in addition to the agreed mechanic compensation and disclosed before the customer authorizes the booking. No platform fee percentage is established by this supplement. Mechanical Matt covers its payment-processing costs from its platform revenue rather than deducting them from the agreed mechanic compensation. No mechanic insurance deduction is enabled under this rate model.

Platform-provided gig insurance is not currently promised. Any future coverage must be described separately before purchase or booking. Existing requirements for the mechanic’s own business insurance remain in place. Refunds and disputes remain subject to the applicable agreed terms and law; this supplement does not guarantee payment of disputed or unearned amounts.

No exclusivity or required follow-up booking

You may work independently, advertise, serve other customers, and work with other platforms. Mechanical Matt does not require exclusivity.

The first booked service call and its already-authorized scope, payment, documentation, and obligations remain with Mechanical Matt. You and the customer may arrange subsequent or additional repair work directly, including a repair following a diagnosis-only visit. You do not have to book that new work through Mechanical Matt. This does not cancel obligations already accepted or allow an existing authorized platform charge to be diverted.

For work arranged directly, Mechanical Matt is not a party and does not provide platform payment handling, booking documentation, service records, or platform dispute assistance. You and the customer may voluntarily book follow-ups through Mechanical Matt to use the services available for those bookings. Any warranty, insurance, or other protection applies only as expressly described for the relevant booking.
